We last left off with Larry Moss and a team of agents surrounded at an old military complex by Jonas Hodges’ team of mercenaries. Total standoff. As for Jack…due to his exposure to one of Starkwood’s biological weapons, he was politely asked to sit this one out, so he’s calling the shots back at FBI HQ. There, he learns that Doug Knowles (one of Starkwood’s board members who has some issues with Hodges’ way of running things) was helping Senator Mayer’s investigation of Starkwood. He manages to contact Knowles, who is willing to comply, but now Jack needs Moss and his team to leave the complex, but also leave Tony behind to rendezvous with Knowles. Done.

Once Knowles and Tony meet up, Jack directs them to the building that is likely holding the weapons. Of course, Starkwood guys show up, and while Tony hides, Knowles explains that he’s a board member and has every right to be there. Good call. But unfortunately, the Starkwood guys call Hodges, who insists that Knowles be brought to see him. Tony’s on his own now, but gets into the building which is a plus. Naturally, Tony runs into a few of his own problems, but takes out two Starkwood mercs and throws on a uniform, hoping to move through the building relatively unnoticed. Tony is becoming quite the American James Bond these days. With his trendy new Starkwood mercenary look, Tony makes his way to the weapons and confirms that they are there, so Jack can relay that information to the military and authorize a strike. Meanwhile, Knowles is confronted by Hodges. Hodges gives a very patriotic speech, and then–stuff like this is becoming classic Jonas Hodges–he beats a bottle over Knowles’ head and throws him over a railing. WTF?!?
Elsewhere, Olivia received a call from her journalist contact who seemed to know what was going on with Starkwood and the military strike, and Olivia met him at a hotel room hoping to keep him quiet. She did what she had to…she totally slept with him. Afterwards, he said he was still going to print what he knew…damn, that’s cold. Olivia had her own game though, and she recorded them having sex on her cell phone, which could prove to be pretty damaging to this journalist’s marriage. Guess two can play this game.
Back at the White House, Taylor receives a call from Hodges shortly before the military strike. He insists on meeting her in a civil setting at the White House, and if she refuses, he will launch his weapons at cities along the east coast before the military strike hits him. She calls it off, and makes an appointment to meet with Hodges. 12:59:57 12:59:58 12:59:59 1:00:00.
After much relaying of information between Jack, Tony, Renee, and President Taylor, Jonas Hodges shows up with Seaton at the White House for their meeting. After Hodges says his piece, saying that he wants a sense of military and political control, Secret Service agents enter the office and arrest Hodges. Mad props to President Taylor for pulling this stunt off, and no props for Hodges (did this guy really think after threatening to nuke US cities he was just going to enjoy a cup of coffee in the Oval Office?).
As for Tony, on Jack’s orders, he made his way to the weapons with C4, intending to blow them up on his own. He got to get a little revenge on Stokes by putting a gun to his head for a change. Once Tony plants the C4 and is ready to get clear and detonate, he is attacked by a Starkwood merc, cutting things pretty close, but ultimately, with a triumphant dive away from the explosion, Tony pulls it off. Moss and his agents immediately move in on the military complex, securing any remaining weapons. When Moss and Tony meet face to face, Moss apologizes and tells him he needs to be brought into custody…Tony understandingly complies.
Back at FBI, Jack has put in a word to President Taylor in Tony’s defense, stating what he’s done to help save the country throughout the day. President Taylor says she’ll take it under consideration. There was a lot more going on at FBI though–when Kim Bauer shows! There is the potential for Jack to survive, if Kim can help. Something complicated…I don’t know, stem cells or something, which technically puts Kim at a slight risk. Jack refuses to let her, but she insists. Ultimately, Jack tells her to leave once he becomes symptomatic again.
Back at Starkwood, an FBI agent catches a Starkwood mercenary trying to transport a weapon out of the complex. He reports it to Moss, but then the merc takes down the agent and hops in a car. Moss pursues in a helicopter, and lands once the merc is on foot. Moss and Tony take cover behind a dumpster while engaging in a shoot out with the merc. The merc gets close enough with a shotgun to shoot Moss in the side. Moss drops to the ground, and while the merc starts to get closer, he warns Tony. Tony shrugs and says, “I’m sorry, Larry,” then suffocates him. Tony talks to the merc and tells him he’ll wait for the FBI, and tells the merc to go hide. Tony, Tony, Tony…so you were a bad guy pretending to be a good guy pretending to be a bad guy all along? You’re just playing games with our hearts now. 1:59:57 1:59:58 1:59:59 2:00:00.
