Military Strikes and Mind Games

Category: 24, TV — @ 2:38 pm

We last left off with Larry Moss and a team of agents surrounded at an old military complex by Jonas Hodges’ team of mercenaries. Total standoff. As for Jack…due to his exposure to one of Starkwood’s biological weapons, he was politely asked to sit this one out, so he’s calling the shots back at FBI HQ. There, he learns that Doug Knowles (one of Starkwood’s board members who has some issues with Hodges’ way of running things) was helping Senator Mayer’s investigation of Starkwood. He manages to contact Knowles, who is willing to comply, but now Jack needs Moss and his team to leave the complex, but also leave Tony behind to rendezvous with Knowles. Done.

Once Knowles and Tony meet up, Jack directs them to the building that is likely holding the weapons. Of course, Starkwood guys show up, and while Tony hides, Knowles explains that he’s a board member and has every right to be there. Good call. But unfortunately, the Starkwood guys call Hodges, who insists that Knowles be brought to see him. Tony’s on his own now, but gets into the building which is a plus. Naturally, Tony runs into a few of his own problems, but takes out two Starkwood mercs and throws on a uniform, hoping to move through the building relatively unnoticed. Tony is becoming quite the American James Bond these days. With his trendy new Starkwood mercenary look, Tony makes his way to the weapons and confirms that they are there, so Jack can relay that information to the military and authorize a strike. Meanwhile, Knowles is confronted by Hodges. Hodges gives a very patriotic speech, and then–stuff like this is becoming classic Jonas Hodges–he beats a bottle over Knowles’ head and throws him over a railing. WTF?!?

Elsewhere, Olivia received a call from her journalist contact who seemed to know what was going on with (more…)

Desperate Times for Danko…And Everybody Else

Category: Heroes, TV — @ 7:36 pm

I’ll cut right to it…Nathan and Claire are hiding out in Mexico but find themselves flat broke, Peter and Angela head to a church and debate their next move, and Sylar and Danko team up…? Puzzling, but it looks like they seem to have a common goal.

Down in Mexico, Nathan and Claire manage to scrape together enough cash for a crappy motel room, but are otherwise tapped out. Claire takes the initiative and scores some serious cash by selling a necklace give to her by Noah, and her liver…twice. Ah, this girl amazes me. When she meets up with Nathan at a bar and shows him her earnings, he spots some kids and tells her that he can use it to make even more. Apparently, back when Nathan was a Navy man they would make money at the ports by doing tequila shots until someone passed out. I’ll be damned if Nathan didn’t go to work, but ultimately, he couldn’t quite hold his own against these younger guys. As a result, he passed out and Claire had to catch up and step in…so Claire did roughly 22 shots just to catch up. Basically, Claire can’t get drunk…which in her age group, is kind of a huge bummer, but for this particular plot purpose, it paid off. Eventually, the other dude passed out, and Claire won the cash.

Claire dragged Nathan back to the motel where Nathan opened up to her about how he totally handled everything badly, and gave her a free pass in hopes of making everything right between them. The next morning, Nathan explains that he wants to fix this but he doesn’t know what to do. Claire tells him how amazing he is, likening him to Superman, before eventually walking out. Nathan catches up to her on the street, where she informs him she’s going back to the states, and he then shows her that he sold his watch in exchange for the necklace she sold. He tells her that he too, is going back and will find a way to do something.

Back in the states, Sylar and Danko are both trying to solve a mystery, and sure enough, they realize they might be able to help each other. Danko’s men have been (more…)

Jack Bauer Gets Sidelined, Tony Almeida Gets Played

Category: 24, TV — @ 4:37 pm

The Starkwood secrets out! Jack is infected by a biological weapon! Tony’s been captured by the Starkwood mercs! Beware, the rest of this season could be incredibly awesome!

So once the dudes in the plastic suits arrive to check Jack out, Jack is forced to strip down to his bare ass in the middle of the highway. Talk about embarrassing. They draw some blood and get Jack to FBI where he is placed in quarantine. Low and behold, the results come back positive! Fortunately though, he can leave quarantine because they have determined that the disease is not contagious, but regardless, this is still a pretty ugly situation for Bauer. How long does our diseased hero have to sit on the sidelines with these new handicap of his?

Meanwhile, Tony is also incapacitated when he is brought to Starkwood and confronts Hodges face to face. Hodges sees that Tony won’t talk and sends one of his guys to beat the crap out of him, in hopes that Tony will divulge some sort of information regarding what the FBI knows. Hodges right hand man, Seaton, suggests that because the operation no longer appears to be secret, maybe they should destroy the weapon. Hodges says screw that. Seaton takes matters into his own hands…he busts Tony out and they sneak up to Seaton’s office. Seaton insists that Tony ensures his immunity if he cooperates in helping the FBI find the weapon…great idea, cut deals with the fugitive of the state to avoid prison time. Sarcasm aside, it worked. Tony contacted Moss and managed to get Seaton a presidential pardon. How about that?

And now the action…Seaton reveals the whereabouts (more…)
