Noah Bennett: Loyalist or Renegade?

Category: Heroes, TV — @ 1:55 am

Now that Peter, Mohinder, and Parkman have successfully captured Noah Bennett, they were able to get a glimpse back at how the current crisis all began. After bringing Noah to a hotel room, Parkman began prying into his brain to get to the bottom of all this, and see just how involved Noah was in Nathan’s grand scheme to round all those with abilities up. Granted, what they dig up puts the three of them in some very dangerous situations.

Parkman first learned that Angela Petrelli arranged a pretty nice severence for Noah from Primatech, but he found himself bored with all the free time on his hands at home. Sure enough, Nathan came knocking at his doorstep, looking for Noah’s assistance in creating his government program, hoping Noah’s experience could provide some insight. When he was surprised to see how willing Noah was to give up all the free time at home, Noah explained simply, “There’s only so many crossword puzzles I can do.” With that, Noah went on to show Nathan where his life’s work was, all the remaining weapons and files from working with Primatech.

While Mohinder argued that Noah’s memories could be distorted, and possibly faulty, Parkman insisted that everything he saw was real. With that, he sent Peter to check out the storage unit that Noah brought Nathan to. At the storage unit, Peter loads up on whatever supplies he can carry, but unbeknownst to him, he’s on hidden camera! Nathan and Danko send a team to the unit to capture Peter. And they almost have him, but Peter’s smart enough to slip a grenade outside the door as a distraction, just before zooming the f&*$ outta there!

Back at the hotel, Parkman dives back into Noah’s head, seeing the first meeting between Noah and Danko. Noah explains how things worked at Primatech, the whole “one of us, one them,” and defends some of those being hunted, saying they are good and useful people. Danko basically says screw that. They have a rather curt disagreement over how things should be run, and Danko pretty much wins. Things are getting done his way.

The memory cuts out to a new memory when Noah gets in a cab, driven by none other than Mohinder. Noah explains that Mohinder can be useful (more…)

Another Mission Accomplished…Or Not

Category: 24, TV — @ 1:01 am

Big changes for Jack Bauer and company this week as FBI weeded out their moles and Jack finally managed to get his hands on Dubaku. Unfortunately, it looks as if all this is just the tip of the iceberg and there are shadier things afoot within the government, according to a brief appearance by Tony.

At FBI, Sean filled in Erika on the status of things, meaning they were the collective leak within the FBI, meaning that I was partially right about who the mole was. He explained that he put out the warrant for Jack and Renee, but Moss quickly nullified that little hangup and they were quickly released. They found themselves back on the chase, but as it turned out they were not the ones responsible for the final capture of Dubaku.

While Dubaku had harsh words with Marika, he still managed to convince her to join him, claiming he still loves her. She went, but soon enough she came to her senses and jumped into the front seat to grab the wheel, causing a pretty ugly car crash. Jack and Renee quickly got to the scene, shooting the driver and then making sure that they had Dubaku. Marika was unconscious and stuck in the car, which was on fire, so Jack told Renee to get away because the car was going to blow. When he insisted, Renee turned his gun on him and said she promised Marika and her sister that they would be alright, at which point Jack helped pull Marika from the car…barely seconds before the explosion…gotta love television and their dramatic sense of timing. While Jack secured Dubaku, Renee attempted CPR on Marika, but Marika was dead.

Once an ambulance arrived after a timely commercial interruption, Jack insisted that the paramedics wake up Dubaku so he could quickly interrogate him. It was really a waste of time, because it wasn’t until the paramedics attempted to use paddles on him that they realized he had a metal plate in him, which after a quick incision, turned out to be a flash drive of sorts.  Well I’ll be damned if this wasn’t quickly delivered to FBI where Chloe could properly analyze it and reveal everyone involved in this whole government scheme.

At the hospital, Bill filled in President Taylor on the dirty dirty about Dubaku, and told her she was no longer safe at the hospital and that she must return to the White House. There, she had a brief encounter with her daughter Olivia, where they avoided explicitly laying out their issues. Shot outa the cannon, I’m betting Olivia is gay and something like that could’ve tarnished President Taylor’s political career so they kept it on the d/l.

Back at FBI, Sean approached Erika about the information en route to FBI and explained that (more…)

Coach Says No to Candace’s “Cancerous” Attitude

Category: Survivor, TV — @ 4:22 am

With 3 days under their belts these new castaways are beginning to get their heads in the game and start thinking strategy. While personalities begin to clash and allegiances form, everybody can agree on one thing, that they gotta eat. Jalapao pulled it together and decided it’s time for protein, but without fishing supplies they elected to dig up some termites and start chowing down. Elsewhere in Timbira, Coach and Candace realize that they are far from becoming fast friends during a dispute over the best way to cook beans and rice.

All of Timbira was not solely focused on food though. Sierra began thinking about that hidden immunity idol she had a clue to, and included Brendan in on the tip (he was the only person who didn’t throw her a vote within the first minutes of the game). They head down to the beach and start sorting out their clues, but when Debbie stumbles upon them digging a giant hole, they have to do some fast talking and explain that they were building a firepit for later. Yeah, so awesome!

At the Reward/Immunity Challenge, the tribes faced off in a pretty physical basketball-type challenge in the water, and Jalapao was victorious! Not only did they score immunity, but they got fishing gear, and also a chance to send Brendan to Exile Island. In an interesting turn of events, Brendan then got to choose someone from Jalapao to join him on Exile, and he chose Taj, who her tribe recently learned is the wife of Heismann Trophy winner Eddie George.

At Exile, there are two urns, and one has a note in it. Brendan scores (more…)

Devyn Finds a Rat in Her Bed…No Doubt

Category: TV, The Real World — @ 8:35 pm

This week was a more or less lack luster episode of the “Real World,” I guess maybe that’s because there was no drunken drama. Just a couple of Devyn’s boyfriends and some rodents thrown in the mix…courtesy of the bros in the house.

After dealing with a severe rat problem in the house, JD approaches the bros about a plan to get the girls…they buy a mouse and put it in the girls bed. JD went to the right guys, because nobody in the house likes a good prank more than Chet and Ryan, and with Scott around to round things out, all the bros are on board. Targets: Devyn and Sarah.

Meanwhile, Devyn’s semi-fiance David comes to visit. It’s pathetic how tightly wound this guy is around her finger. Chet has constantly pointed out that this is wrong, and furthermore the fact that Devyn has been talking to this other guy Jim is just cruel. Another point that no one brought up is that Devyn has spent most of her time in the house obsessing over Scott, so the fact that she has a fiance, semi or full or whatever, yeah, let’s just say she’s untrustworthy. That said, the guys feel bad for David during his stay and even debate telling him that he’s being played, you know, because of guy code. Instead, they start calling her “sugarbutt” because Chet caught that little nickname in an e-mail from Jim.

Once David left, it was high time for prank time. Chet shouldered the responsibility of the mouse delivery to Devyn’s bed, and sure enough the plan went off without a hitch! After that, Ryan was still unsatisfied so the following night, he dropped the mouse in Sarah’s bed. Yet again (more…)

Ajira Airlines: Flight 316 to Guam…Or Not

Category: Lost, TV — @ 6:33 pm

“Lost” kicked off with Jack, Hurley, and Kate back on the island, so right off the bat we know that by the end of the episode, we will know how they get back. Does everyone go back though? This we’re not so sure about, which is why we have to backtrack to the last scene of the last episode, when Ms. Hawking is just about to explain how they will return to the island. Granted, the only people present for that explanation are Jack, Ben, Sun, and Desmond…
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Well, we learn that underneath that church that Ms. Hawking is holed up in as actually an off-island Dharma station called the Lamppost, and it’s purpose is to locate the island, which apparently is constantly jumping through space if not time (Okay, obviously a Narnia reference, although a friend of mine argued that a more fitting title would be the Wardrobe). Using this giant pendulum over a giant map, they are able to tell where the island will be and for roughly how long. Ms. Hawking then explains that to get back to the island, they will need to be on a flight to Guam in 46 hours (Ajira Airlines!), which will be going right over the island, and basically, by crashing, they’ll get back to the island. Yeah, I’m hoping we get some better logic on that at some point. Furthermore, Ms. Hawking insists that they try and make this flight as similar to the last one as possible. Desmond walks out, calling everyone crazy for trying to return to the island, and Sun also takes off, a little uncertain.

Ms. Hawking passes a note onto Jack from Locke, after explaining that Locke committed suicide. She goes on to explain that they need to bring Locke back as a replacement for Jack’s father. Jack has trouble buying this, but low and behold, he gets duped into it and is totally onboard. He parts ways with Ben for the evening, who has his own business to take care of (this is definitely when he pays that visit to Widmore).

When Jack arrived home he found Kate laying in his bed. This is good news. He asked about Aaron, but she told him that she would return to the island, but he could never ask her about Aaron…ever. Well, I hope that doesn’t mean that we’ll never find out, because that would be lame. Sure enough, they sleep together, and it looks like Kate is one more person who will be on that plane to Guam.

After having paid a quick visit to his grandfather, (more…)

Psycho Killers and Super-Powered Outlaws

Category: Heroes, TV — @ 5:57 am

There was no shortage of hangups for the heroes this week as Claire continued working via text messages for someone who goes by “Rebel,” Hiro and Ando find themselves in India in hopes of getting of Hiro somehow retrieving his powers, and Nathan meets his match when an agent named Abby shows up to investigate his operations. As for Sylar and Luke, well, a quick stop at a diner proves to be violent and enlightening.

Early on, Claire gets a tip from Rebel about one of Nathan’s targets, a geeky kid named Alex who works at a comic shop. She follows the tip, fills him in, and when Noah shows up, no doubt to take the kid down, the two of them take off because a squad of Danko’s (that badass older guy whose kind of a wildcard and works for Nathan, finally found his name) guys aren’t far behind. Alex explains to Claire that he has an ability, and that ability is that he can breathe underwater…which is great, because should he ever find himself in a fight he could totally…ummm, or he could…uhhh, I guess maybe he could…eh, I can’t put a cool spin on this ability. Not only is this kid a geek and getting hunted down by the government, but he’s getting hunted down for having a pretty crappy power. Maybe next episode they’ll introduce a girl who can swim slightly faster than the average person. Later, Claire sneaks Alex into her house, which is totally safe, you know, with her dad being the guy sent to hunt this kid down…

As for Rebel, I actually feel like it could possibly be Noah. Peter seems like the obvious choice, but I’m not so sure I understand how he would have insider info. I suppose it could also be Angela. All good guesses, but I’m going with Noah for now.

As for Nathan, trouble shows up in the form of Abby, who is sent to oversee what Nathan and his team is up to exactly. She’s skeptical of what they’re doing, and is even more skeptical of after seeing Tracy, a former colleague of hers, locked up in a super hot room. Abby has the power to shut down this whole operation if need be, which neither Nathan nor Danko want to see happen…so by no coincidence, Tracy is able to escape into the hallway, where she winds up freezing and killing an agent, right in front of Abby, just before being put back in custody. Abby is suddenly on board, and later Tracy accuses Nathan of leaving the door unlocked and breaking the chains just enough for Tracy to break out. Based on how he’s been acting lately, it wouldn’t be a huge stretch, but when Nathan confronts Danko, it turns out Danko was the sadistic mofo behind that little scheme. This guy’s brutal.

Sylar and Luke take a brief detour from their road trip to grab some grub at a diner, where they do a fair amount of bonding and Luke finally writes down the address of Sylar’s father for him. Sylar begins to take off on his own, saying “You shouldn’t've done that,” but then Danko’s guys show up and corner Sylar, holding a gun right at that spot (more…)

FBI Blows Bauer’s Big Plan

Category: 24, TV — @ 9:29 pm

The race against time beats on as First Gentleman Henry Taylor is rushed to the hospital while Jack and Renee get back on track and attempt to find Dubaku. Naturally, Dubaku is in a hurry to get out of the country safely, also ensuring the safety of his girlfriend Marika, who is not so wise to his terrorist schemes. And of course, things shake up at FBI headquarters when Chloe enters to do some top secret stuff with Moss, making Janis feel a little replaced.

While the last episode made it look like Dubaku was heading off to kill Marika’s sister, but instead he went straight to Marika and fed her some bull about immigration troubles and needing to leave the country immediately. He asked her to come, but to not tell her sister, and that within a week he would get her sister with them. She completely bought it and headed home to pack, being incredibly evasive with her sister about what was going on.

Jack and Renee search Dubaku’s guys and manage to pull an address up, and quickly make their way to the apartment. After busting down the door, they find Marika and her sister there, and while Marika denies knowing the man in the picture Jack shows them, Marika’s sister wises up and says they do know him, but they know him as Samuel. Well, now Jack has some ’splainin’ to do, because Dubaku ain’t the Samuel that Marika thinks she knows.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
As for Dubaku, he continued making arrangements to get out of the country, meeting with one of his insiders, Burnett. Looking around, Dubaku could see that he was in a trap, but he told Burnett that should anything happen to him or Marika, records of everyone involved in this would be sent to the justice department. Guess it’s all about leverage. As a result, Burnett assured Dubaku that Marika would be picked up and delivered to him within the hour.

At the hospital, things are far from looking good for Henry Taylor, at which point President Taylor insists that someone find her estranged (more…)

Survivor: Tocantins! New Season, ‘Nuff Said!

Category: Survivor, TV — @ 1:37 am

A new season of “Survivor” with a new set of castaways in an all new location! Awesome! This time our group of 18 castaways has been sent to survive in Tocantins, Brazil, and Jeff Probst kicked things off with a shocker when he told the two tribes that they would have their first vote immediately, and that the person they voted would not join them on the 4 hour trek to camp (implying that the person would be out of the game). The tribes voted, the Jalapao tribe voting for Sandy, an older kind of outlandish lady while Timbira voted for Sierra, a young model who is trying to kick strep throat. What better way to do that than roughing it out in Brazil? In any case, everyone was surprised to learn that Sandy and Sierra were not out of the game, but instead had just scored a helicopter ride to their respective camps. Very cool, but this would also isolate them from the rest of the tribe, by not partaking in the bonding experience of said trek.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
While Jalapao and Timbira journey across Brazil, lugging provisions along the way, Sandy and Sierra find themselves with free time at their respective camps. They both receive tree mail, which says they can get in their tribes’ good graces by beginning to work on shelter, or they can use a clue for the hidden immunity idol. Sandy decides to do absolutely nothing, not even to make it look like she tried to work on shelter or get things set, and instead seeks out the idol. Sierra decides she’ll take a crack at salvaging her reputation in the game and attempts to work on the shelter.

Once the tribes arrive, (more…)

From Brooklyn to Gettysburg, Things Get Pretty Real

Category: TV, The Real World — @ 12:56 am

Broskis and biddies collide on in and out of the Brooklyn house, when the gang takes a road trip to Ryan’s hometown of Gettysburg. The bros start to bond over their collective irritation with the girls on the whole, as well as their overall curiosity with regards to Katelynn. Curiosity and discomfort could actually be synonymous in this particular case, because quite frankly, no one’s all that comfortable with some of Katelynn’s behavior in and out of the house. Between walking around in her panties on a regular basis and her insistence on treating anything as her own personal stripper pole, she’s sort of asking for a confrontation. To make things more tense, the guys were determined to figure out the truth about her, and while they pretty much knew what the truth was, they still attempted to sleuth this out by listening in on her confession.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Central to the episode is JD, Sarah, and Katelynn taking a trip down to the local Gay, Lesbian, Transgender Community Center, hoping to get involved. They decide to show their support by attending the opening ceremonies for a bike trip from Gettysburg to Manhattan to raise AIDS awareness. Of course, at first I thought they actually intended to take part in the bike trip…seems sensible, but no, they just went down for the opening ceremonies with the added bonus of checking out Ryan’s roots. That said, road trip! The guys pile into one car while the girls pile into the other, planning to convoy down. Unfortunately, the girls get irritated following the guys and decide to break off and find their own way to Gettysburg, minus directions.

Obviously, the guys made it there, just in time for their tour bus but the girls didn’t have the same luck and pretty much missed the tour entirely. Trying to make it sound cool, they decided “hey, we’ll take our own tour of Gettysburg.” This allowed the bros to spend more time bonding before everyone went out to dinner with Ryan’s family. After that, everyone walked the whopping ten feet to the other side of the restaurant, which was conveniently a bar. Katelynn was insulted by this idea, as if every town should have their own version of Angels & Kings (more…)

The Return of Jin!

Category: Lost, TV — @ 10:48 pm

Things were looking good last week when a young and pregnant Rousseau and her team met a very alive Jin. Furthermore, it looked like Ben had finally just about rounded up the Oceanic 6 meaning things would all come together sooner than later. Of course, things were also looking bad for our ragtag group on the island, all suffering the effects of time travel, no one more so than Charlotte. And despite the nearly complete reunion of the Oceanic 6, Sun threw a wrench in that plan by approaching Ben with a gun. Sound familiar? Good, because that’s exactly where this week picks up.

Kicking off with the Oceanic 6, Sun has Ben at gunpoint blaming him for Jin’s death. It is then that Ben informs Sun that not only is Jin alive and well on the island, but he can prove this. Jack soon explains that they all have to go back to the island together,  which is a pretty ugly turnoff for both Kate and Sayid. Kate takes off, and Sayid heads his own way, telling both Ben and Jack that if he sees either of them again, it will be “unpleasant.” Well, so much for the reunion. Sun reluctantly goes along with Ben, who is taking both Jack and her to see Ms. Eloise Hawking, the woman who knows how they can get back to the island and also prove that. En route, Jack apologizes to Sun, feeling responsible for leaving Jin behind on the freighter, and says that if Ben can’t prove Jin’s alive, he’ll kill him himself. Ben hits the brakes and flips out, stating that he’s been busting his ass to protect them ever since they left the island.

But let’s focus on the main event…the return of Jin! Not only that, but his brief stint with Rousseau’s team answers a few questions for us about the circumstances of their deaths. They want to put out a message using the radio tower, which they know is on the island because they can pick up a radio signal. Jin leads them to the tower, but on their journey the black smoke monster attacks, killing one and dragging another down into a hole under a temple (yup, looks like it’s that temple, the place where the Others supposedly spent the better part of season 4). Everyone but Rousseau and Jin climbed down into the hole to help their friend who was still alive…insert time shift…and Jin is alone at the temple and returns to the beach, where he finds a small camp and two diseased looking bodies of Rousseau’s team. A little further Rousseau is arguing with her boyfriend/husband, telling him he is sick from the black smoke monster or whatever was in that hole, and when he attempts to shoot her, she kills him. Insert another time shift and Jin is once again alone…until of course, he finally runs into Sawyer and company.

Once all the formalities are taken care of and half-baked explanations are provided (except Jin didn’t say anything about his time with Rousseau or the temple), they continue their trek to the (more…)
