Lost Premiere! Part 2! The Oceanic Six [Try to] Get Their $% Together!
Last post was dedicated to all the on-island action, this post is focused on all the off island events. To first tie the brief scenes involving Desmond, basically we saw him wake up next to Penny from a disturbing dream in which Daniel Faraday told him he had to go to Oxford. Desmond believes this was more than a dream, it didn’t necessarily happen, but it’s a memory of some sort and he has to do as Daniel says. That logic completely goes along with the “what the *&$%” logic that is crucial to this entire premiere.
As for the Oceanic 6, we return to Jack and Ben who are packing up Locke’s body in hopes of bringing him back to the island. Trouble is, they now need to round up the rest of the 6, and it doesn’t sound like Jack is on great terms with too many of them…
As for Sayid, you may recall that we last saw him busting Hurley out of the mental institution. This was one of the best parts of the premiere, because we got to see these two on the road and on the run. Unfortunately, it didn’t last too long because when Sayid brought Hurley to his safehouse, a hotel room, the place was compromised and Sayid had to kill two guys. More unfortunately, some hotel residents caught a glimpse of Hurley holding a gun so now Hurley’s face is plastered all over the news. And even more unfortunately, Sayid got hit with a dart that knocked him out cold, so Hurley’s only solution is to bring Sayid to his house, and let Cheech Marin handle this one.

Kate too, finds herself on the run when a couple of lawyers show up at her house, insisting on getting a blood test to prove that Kate is Aaron’s mother…she’s not…so she hops in the car uncertain of where the hell she’s headed. Fortunately, she receives an unexpected call from Sun, who is in LA and recently had a run in at the airport with Charles Widmore. Kate goes to see Sun, and they dish the dirt about their respective problems. It becomes pretty clear that Sun has grown pretty damn cold since Jin died and insists that Kate will do anything in her power to keep Aaron.
Back at Hurley’s house, Sayid is out cold and some feds showed up asking about Hurley. Cheech played it cool and quickly schemed with Hurley a possible way to get Sayid some help because he wasn’t breathing. They have to go to Jack (who is drug free now that Ben went to the liberty of throwing his pills away), so Cheech slips by the feds with Sayid laying in the back of the car and brings him to Jack’s hospital, where Jack is able to revive him. So now Jack and Sayid have found each other, and Sayid is in touch with Hurley so everything’s going to work out…right? Cue plot complication…
Ben goes to Hurley’s house to recruit him, but the trouble is that earlier Sayid told Hurley to never get involved with Ben. Don’t believe what he says and don’t do what he says to do. So just when it seems like the gang is getting back together, Ben blows it by going to see Hurley. Hurley does exactly what it takes to avoid getting involved with Ben…he runs outside to where the feds are staked outside his house and gets himself arrested. This just got a little more difficult.
Later, Ben goes to see a woman explaining that he lost Hurley and she points out that he only has 72 hours to get everyone back together. As it turns out, the woman is Ms. Hawking (way back in season 3, she was in Desmond’s flashback, the old woman in the jewelry store who seemed to know a helluvalot, including the future). And so the plot thickens…
